The Community Services Gateway to Industry Schools project have been busy delivering Pop Up Events within the Wide Bay District.

The Pop Up events are designed to engage and inspire students about the different jobs and careers in the community services sector, by hearing directly from employers, youth ambassadors and training providers.

Bundaberg North State High School was the first school to launch the event, holding two pop up events, during their lunch time period, allowing students from all year levels to attend.

Local employers, Southern Cross Support Services and Headspace participated in the events, with representatives from CQUniversity providing a wealth of career pathway and qualification knowledge.

One of our youth ambassadors Storm Drabsch attended and shared her career journey into the sector, with the students finding this invaluable learning.

The event attracted a number of students, and rated the event 4.3 out of 5, with all students advising that the event influenced their career decision. Comments from students included that the event had ‘engaging crew / made it fun’.

Bundaberg State High School will be holding events in November 2020, with other Community Services Gateway to Industry schools booking events for 2021.
