Community Services Gateway Schools Launch’s

A key success factor to the project is building partnerships with local communities and the Community Services Gateway launches are a great way to do this. The launch consists of industry | employers, stakeholders, registered training organisation, universities, and key school personnel.

Held at the school, usually in the morning for approximately 1 to 1.5hrs with networking and morning tea, with speakers from the school and community promoting the project etc. It is great to have local Mayors, MP and Senior Education personnel to attend and endorse the project plus engage with local employers.

Why Be A Community Services Gateway To Industry School?

This Gateway to Industry Schools program is proudly supported and funded by the Queensland Government – Please note it is only available only in Queensland

Does your school have the resources and knowledge to provide up to date career pathway information to your students about the community services sector? With the sector undeniably being a major source of future jobs, by 2025, the annual jobs growth forecast for the Community Services sector is predicted to be double the average national workforce growth rate and almost treble that of Queensland.*

But careers in the Community Services can be unrecognised by young people, parents and schools and difficult to connect to. The Gateway to Industry Schools project provides that connection and works with young people, schools, industry, employers, trainers, university and families to build a strong training and experiential pathway for tomorrows community services workforce.

Support you can expect as a Community Services Gateway Industry School:

National Disability Services (NDS) of Queensland, is a national peak body and will work directly with schools to prepare students for this employment growth area. You can expect:

- Classroom resources to build students awareness of the sector
- Industry endorsed professional development opportunities
Access to events and programs to provide a range of opportunities for students to learn about and experience the Community Services industry – that are industry-relevant.
Creation of sustainable partnerships between schools and industry

Your key commitments as a Community Services Gateway Industry School:

Nominating a Key School Contact
Demonstrating community involvement (either existing or dedicated)
Building and maintaining productive partnerships
Encouraging and spreading the word
Promoting career advice and information targeting Community Services Careers
Helping with evaluation of the project
Offering a Certificate II or III in Community Services aligned training as part of your school’s Vocational Education Training (VET) offerings.
